Tanzania has introduced new health measures for all international arrivals in response to the Ebola Virus Disease outbreak. The rules apply to everyone entering the country, regardless of nationality or where they are travelling from.
What Travellers Must Do
All travellers must complete the Afya Msafiri Traveller’s Health Surveillance Form online before travelling:
After completing the form, travellers will receive a QR code or reference number. They should keep it on their phone or print it out and show it to Port Health officials on arrival.
This applies at all entry points, including airports, seaports and land borders. Guests entering Tanzania by road from Kenya must also complete the form.
Travellers are strongly advised to complete the form before departure to avoid delays.
What to Expect on Arrival
- Temperature checks and other health screening at airports, ports and land borders.
- Information about symptoms to monitor during the trip.
- Travellers considered high-risk may be placed in a 21-day follow-up programme with daily automated messages. They must respond during this period, even after leaving Tanzania.
- Standard hygiene measures, such as hand sanitising and avoiding unnecessary physical contact, are recommended.
Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar
Travellers who complete the form on their first international arrival in Tanzania do not need to complete it again when travelling between Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar. Their details will simply be checked.
For example:
- Arriving at Kilimanjaro International Airport and later travelling to Zanzibar? Complete the form once.
- Arriving directly in Zanzibar and later travelling to the mainland? Complete the form once.
Inter Tribes Safaris Advice
Inter Tribes Safaris will remind guests to complete the form before departure and to have their QR code ready for arrival. If you have questions about how these rules affect your trip, please contact our team. We will share more official updates as they become available.
We look forward to welcoming you to Tanzania.
